Here is a map detailing many places where Marie Colvin reported from during her career.
On February 22, 2012, fearless journalist and Oyster Bay native Marie Colvin was killed while reporting on the Syrian Uprising from Homs, Syria. Colvin, French photographer Remi Ochlik and hundreds of Syrian civilians died when the Syrian military shelled the city to get rid of activists. Earlier this week, the Long Island Community Foundation began a memorial fund that will allow Colvin’s family, including mother Rosemarie who lives in Norwich, to donate to charities on her behalf. Colvin who died at age 56, was a 1974 Oyster Bay High School graduate who attended Yale and wrote for United Press International in her early career. She reported for The Sunday Times of London since 1985 as a Middle East correspondent, and constantly risked her life for journalism. Colvin defied the UN and other authorities many times by reporting from places like Kosovo, Sierra Leone and Tunisia, Egypt.
